And after a long day spent outdoors in the cold, I love nothing more than to curl up with a good cup of hot chocolate.
So we have decided to put together a list of where to find the best hot chocolate in Mississauga. And considering we have lived in this city for decades, we KNOW all the good spots!

Hot Chocolate FAQs
The difference between hot chocolate and hot cocoa is the ingredients. Hot chocolate gets its creamy, rich flavour from actual melted chocolate. Warm milk, water or cream are then added to make a drink.
Hot cocoa, however, is made from a powdered base of cocoa, sugar, and added flavourings, to which warm milk, water or cream are added.
Portugal consumes the most cups of hot chocolate per capita than any other country in the world. On average, each person drinks 100.2 cups of the sweet drink per year.
Hot chocolate made with milk is actually a lot sweeter. But when hot chocolate is made with water, the sweet flavour becomes much more diluted.
So depending on how big of a sweet tooth you have, you may prefer it one way over the other.
Marshmallows are one of the quintessential hot chocolate toppings. And aside from whipped cream, nothing beats that light and creamy layer created by melting marshmallows, to balance the richness and sweetness of the chocolate perfectly.
Mexican hot chocolate tastes different because it contains spices like cinnamon and chilli and chopped bittersweet chocolate. These ingredients tend to create a very rich hot chocolate, but also one that is a lot less sweet in flavour.
American hot chocolate, on the other hand, tends to be much sweeter due to it being made just with cocoa powder and/or chocolate.
Both the French and the Italians love their hot chocolate to be thick. As a result, they both use heavy cream and milk along with top-notch chocolate to make their drinks decadent.
But Italians actually take it a step further and add cornstarch to their hot chocolate. The result is a pudding-like consistency that is still pourable.
Belgian chocolate is considered one of the best in the world, due to its creamy texture. The chocolate is finely milled to 18 microns, which is smaller than what we can register on our tongue. As a result, the chocolate doesn’t feel grainy in our mouth when it melts but feels smooth and creamy instead.
The Hot Chocolate Capital of the World is Elizabeth City, North Carolina. This is because the city comes together to create the largest hot chocolate crawl in the country.
